The SALDAE Project Concludes Its Modular Training Cycle: Third Webinar and Workshop on International Projects

The training and capacity-building component of the SALDAE project for staff involved in internationalization has reached its final stage with a third training cycle dedicated to the design and structuring of international projects. Following the workshops held in Ghardaïa in April and Sétif in May, the University of Saïda hosted this final workshop.

This third cycle, focused on international projects, followed the same format as the previous ones: an introductory webinar presenting the thematic area, followed by a three-day practical and interactive workshop led by experts from UNIMED, Paris 8 University, and the University of Granada.

How to Design and Structure International Projects

On 21 May 2026, the third and final webinar of the modular training cycle brought together more than sixty participants online from the partner universities. The session focused on international projects and was jointly delivered by experts from Paris 8 University, the University of Granada, and UNIMED.

The webinar explored the different stages involved in designing, structuring, and developing international projects, while also presenting best practices and opportunities for academic cooperation. The strong participation of academic and administrative staff reflected the growing interest among partner universities in strengthening their capacities in international cooperation.

From 9 to 11 June 2026, Dr. Moulay Tahar University of Saïda hosted the third and final Training of Trainers workshop. The opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Mounya Belhocine, SALDAE Project Coordinator and Vice-Rector for External Relations at the University of Béjaïa, and Mr. Noureddine Halla, Vice-Rector of the University of Saïda. Both speakers highlighted the importance of strengthening institutional capacities in university cooperation and internationalization. The training sessions were facilitated by experts from Paris 8 University, the University of Granada, and UNIMED.

The workshop focused on the design, management, and funding of international projects. Participants developed four key competencies: identifying research funding programmes and funding agencies; applying international project cycle management tools (identification, formulation, implementation, and evaluation); preparing project proposals that meet donor requirements (including the logical framework, budget, and performance indicators); and assessing the relevance and sustainability of international projects. These activities enabled participants to acquire practical methods that can be directly applied within their respective institutions.

The event also received media coverage from the newspaper El Djoumhouria, reflecting the growing interest in initiatives supporting the internationalization of Algerian higher education. The workshop concluded with a certificate award ceremony for both participants and trainers, marking the successful completion of an ambitious training cycle that brought together staff from the partner universities across three Algerian cities and three complementary thematic areas.

This third cycle marks the completion of the webinar and workshop phase conducted in Algeria.

The training programme is now entering a new stage with the organization of a national dissemination and preparation workshop for the second level of training, scheduled for 7 July 2026. Led by the Algerian partner universities with the participation of the European partner institutions, this workshop will provide an opportunity to consolidate the outcomes of the three training workshops, prepare the second level of training, and share the training materials and good practices with all participants.
