Following the successful launch in Ghardaïa, the SALDAE project’s training and capacity-building component for staff involved in internationalisation continued with its second training cycle, this time dedicated to academic mobility. As part of this initiative, an online webinar followed by a three-day workshop in Sétif, hosted by Sétif 1 and Sétif 2 Universities, was organised.
How Can We Develop and Strengthen Mobility Programmes Within Our University?
On 30 April 2026, the second webinar of the modular training programme brought together more than 60 participants online. The session focused on international mobility programmes and was delivered by the University of Granada and UNIMED.
The webinar explored the mechanisms for designing and strengthening university mobility programmes, the challenges of academic recognition, and emerging forms of cooperation, particularly virtual and hybrid mobility schemes. The discussions provided the conceptual and strategic foundations for the practical workshop held in May.
From 12 to 14 May 2026, Ferhat Abbas University Sétif 1 and Mohamed Lamine Debaghine University Sétif 2 jointly hosted the second Training of Trainers workshop. The event was inaugurated by the Rector of Ferhat Abbas University Sétif 1, Prof. Mohamed El Hadi Latrache, in the presence of vice-rectors, experts from Paris 8 University and the University of Granada, the project’s external evaluator, and representatives of partner institutions. The project coordinator, Dr. Mounya Belhocine, presented the objectives and programme of the three-day event.
More than thirty participants attended an intensive training programme led by experts from Paris 8 University and the University of Granada. The sessions focused on the development of university mobility projects, the mapping of mobility activities within institutions, academic recognition mechanisms, and the collective presentation of international partnership maps prepared by the partner universities. Participants also engaged in activities on institutional interculturality, as well as brainstorming sessions on innovation in university cooperation.
Alongside the training sessions, a cultural visit was organised to one of Algeria’s most important archaeological sites, providing an opportunity for intercultural exchange and strengthening relationships among participants from the various partner universities.
The workshop concluded with a certificate-awarding ceremony for participants and the presentation of trophies to the trainers. The project coordinator, Dr. Mounya Belhocine, expressed her gratitude to Sétif 1 and Sétif 2 Universities for their hospitality and excellent organisation, as well as to Paris 8 University and the University of Granada for their expertise and continuous commitment throughout the training programme.
